Activity 2

On Google, research the country that you have chosen to visit and write, in your own words, three interesting facts about that country. They must be facts that weren’t already provided on the World Map.

1. Japan is made up of 6,852 islands.
2. The highest point in Japan in Mount Fuji, which stands at 3,776m (12,388ft).
3. The Japanese name for Japan is “Nihon” or “Nippon” which means “sun origin”.

  1. Hi Samuel,
That is such a interesting fact about the Japanese name for Japan. I learned something new today.
I look forward to reading what else you learn on this journey.

  2. Kia ora Samuel,

Wow 6,852 islands? That's a lot of different places to visit! How many do you think you could visit on your journey there?

Mt Fuji is a pretty big mountain, especially since it's an active volcano. The highest mountain in New Zealand is Mt Cook in the South Island, and it's just a little bit shorter at 3,724m. Do you think you'd want to try and climb Mt Fuji while you're there?

I enjoyed your facts about Japan, Samuel. What else do you think is interesting about Japan?

If you have time, don't forget to have a look at some of your friends blogs and comment if you can!

    Cheers,
    Dan.
