Summer Blogging

Activity 1

Imagine that you have just arrived at the airport in Auckland. Your whole family is there to greet you. They can’t wait to hear all about your trip! You decide that you’ll go home and have a special meal together to celebrate your return. Your mum offers to make you anything that you would like to eat. On your blog, tell us what you would choose to have for your special meal.
If it was me, I would ask for homemade hamburgers with ketchup, American-style mustard, onions, tomato and lettuce; Cajun-style wedges with tomato sauce and Greek salad with cherry tomatoes and lots of feta cheese. For dessert I would ask for vanilla cake with chocolate icing and neopolitan ice cream. What would you ask for?

I would ask for a burger with french fries, bacon, patty and bbq sauce, Scramble eggs with onions inside with buttered toast on the side. For desert I would ask for vanilla ice cream with a lot of Hershey syrup with 3 chocolate flakes inside a waffle cone.

  1. I'd ask for FISH n CHIPS with LnP and Hokey Pokey ice kiwi am I! Hope you had an awesome trip...what do you wish you'd known before you began?

    1. Hi Harrison,

Thanks for the great comment. You do sound very kiwi by choosing such classic 'kiwiana' dishes. Like you, I am a huge fan of Hokey Pokey ice cream!

Thanks for asking a great question in your comment box. It is one that will promote a lot of careful thought and consideration.

      Nicely done, Harrison :)

      Cheers, Rachel

  2. Hi Samuel,

I think that you had made an excellent choice of meal. We both clearly love our hamburgers and our ice cream. I see from Harrison's post that he would also choose to have ice cream for dessert but he'd opt for Hokey Pokey. That is a very 'kiwi' option!

I like the question that he posed in his comment. Is there anything that you wish that you had known about Japan or about travelling, in general, before you started this journey?

On that note, you have done an awesome job in the journey this holiday. I've really, really enjoyed reading your blog posts and will continue to make my way through each of them and provide comments. You've done the work so quickly that I'm struggling to keep up!

Way to go, Samuel. You and the students at St Pius X are setting such a great example for all of the other schools. You're working very hard and very diligently to make your way through the journey.

    Awesome job.

    Rachel :)

  3. Kia ora Samuel!

I'm Mark, one of the teachers working with Rachel on the Summer Learning Journey. I've really enjoyed reading this blog of yours so I want to participate too!

If it were me I would want a special pan-fried chicken with my mums special capers sauce with some pasta. Then for dessert I would want a lemon meringue pie - which is my absolute favourite dessert of all time. Oh, and maybe on the way home from the airport a mince and cheese pie haha!

How is your holiday going? It looks like you are working very regularly on the SLJ and you should be very proud of your progress I reckon!

    Keep up the great work,
